XANSONS for COD is a research project aimed at creating an open access database of simulated x-ray and neutron powder diffraction patterns for the nanocrystalline phase of the materials presented in the Crystallography Open Database (COD). The National Science Foundation has funded a 3-year project by UC Berkeley, Purdue University, and Texas Advanced Computing Center to develop a new framework for BOINC-based volunteer computing, in which volunteers sign up for science goals rather than projects. Details are here.
